In 2003, Callaway Electric transitioned to digital meters in order to provide more accurate and reliable service to its membership. These new meters eliminate the need for the member to make that monthly trip to the pole to take a meter reading. Instead, the electrical usage data is transmitted via the power lines every night to the office so the time the meter is read is the same every month, making your bill more accurate and consistent. 

Besides making things easier on the member, they also save money for the Cooperative and its membership by cutting down on line loss (unaccounted power used) and by making power theft something that was once a random find to something that is detected within a day. These more advanced metering systems allow Callaway Electric to bring better quality power and reliability to its membership.
