Starting in July of 2008, Callaway Electric has been working in conjunction with Associated Electric (our wholesale power supplier) to come up with a number of ways that cooperative members can save money as well as help slow down the rising cost of electrical energy.

Part of the program allows us to offer rebates on energy efficient appliances and water heaters.  The following rebates are available:

Water Heater Rebate Information   

Callaway Electric Cooperative offers a rebate on electric water heaters. To be eligible for the rebate, members must install water heaters which meet the following qualifications:

* Water heater tank size must be 40 gallons or larger.

* Water heater tank must have insulation rating of R-11 or greater.

* Dual heating elements must be electrically interlocked to prevent both elements from being energized at the same time.

* The new water heater must either replace an existing gas or electric water heater, be installed in a newly constructed home, or be installed in a home which previously had no water heater.

* Copy of invoice or bill of sale (along with the make & model number of heater) must be presented to Callaway Electric Cooperative no later than 60 days from date of purchase.

* All rebates will be made to member homeowners or builders only.

* Upon request, a Callaway Electric Cooperative employee can verify installation of the electric water heater.

*Air Source Heat pump Water Heaters are ineligible.

Appliance Rebate Information  

Rebates are available on the following appliances.  See below for details on qualification requirements:

* Clothes Washers - $100 Rebate

* Dish Washers - $50 Rebate

* High Efficiency Room Air Conditioners- $50 Rebate

The following requirements must be met in order to qualify for the appliance rebates:

* Clothes Washer/Dishwasher Rebate - you must be using an electric water heater in conjunction with the new appliance.

* The dishwasher and/or clothes washer must also be Energy Star® rated.

* Rebates apply for appliance replacement and/or new home construction.

Water Heater Rebate Amounts:                                              

* Replacement of electric water heaters with a higher efficiency electric water heater -- $50.00

* New Energy Star® rated water heater in a new house -- $200.00

* Replacement of a gas water heater with an Energy Star® rated electric water heater-- $200.00 plus a $50.00 wiring allowance.
